
Bar Boss 2025 Entry Rules
This exciting event is organized and run by Longmont Restaurant Week to highlight amazing
mixologists and the bars they represent. It is open to the public and will be held annually.
Do you have what it takes to be named “Bar Boss”? Let’s have some fun!
1. Must be 21 years or older.
2. Currently employed at a participating LRW establishment (At any tier, for the current year)
3. Be available and participate on the competition date/time in person
4. Apply by deadline to be considered (2025 deadline to apply is Sunday Aug 31)
5. More than one entry allowed per participating Longmont Restaurant Week establishment
6. Accepted competitors will be notified by email and organizers reserve full rights to determine the number and process for accepting competitors.
7. No payment is required for entry, this is a free prize competition
8. Competitors agree to the use of video and photography for promotional purposes before, during and after the event by LRW and host location.
9. Recipes for cocktails remain the property of the entrant and are required to be shared in full with judges only. Partial ingredient lists or measures
10. We ask that the drinks be made available for purchase the 10 days of the full Longmont Restaurant Week event at the represented establishment but that is not a requirement for entry
11. One cocktail and one mocktail must be presented and all ingredients
a. Cocktail guidelines-
â– must be a minimum of 4oz liquid volume
â– can include any alcohol (no preference given for using sponsor products) specialty mixers or garnishes (supplied by competitors).
â– The competitor is responsible for bringing all ingredients and preferred tools and glassware if they are not the standard type. Competitors will be given a list of what will be made available onsite.
â– Ingredients may be measured with a jigger or other device during the competition or free poured.
â– Ice will be available onsite but competitors are encouraged to bring their own and freezer space will be made available onsite.
â– Drinks may be served hot, straight up or over cubed or crushed ice.
â– Drinks must be made in front of judges and audience members during the competition.
â– A total of 2 cocktails must be made, one for the photographer and one split for the judges and must be made to the same recipe specification .
â– The use of fire and flames is prohibited but smoked applications are permitted.
â– Any unsafe or unhygienic methods or ingredients will disqualify the competitors entry and it will not be judged.
â– Drink(s) should be made within a 10 minute time frame with additional time for setup/familiarization of space provided and presentation spotlight cocktail mixing should be
â– Garnishes must be edible but can be on sticks, skewers, straws or other common bar accessories. Use of peels, sprigs, leaves, barks, and edible flowers are permitted.
b. Mocktail guidelines-
â– Can be zero proof of cocktail recipe presented or a totally different recipe
â– Must be a minimum of 8 fluid oz, no upper limit.
â– Same guidelines as cocktails unless specific to alcohol.
Judging
A panel of 3-4 qualified judges will award points based on taste, presentation, appearance, uniqueness, skills/methods. There will also be public voting for favorite Drink/Bartender based on presentation/personality.
*Specific criteria will be provided to competitors after acceptance.
Prizes
Winner: $500 cash prize, engraved Longmont Restaurant Bar Boss Trophy to display for 1 year and Medal to keep.
Runner Up: $250 cash prize, engraved medal to keep
Honorable Mention: $100 cash prize, engraved medal to keep
